Mindfulness for Stress and Worry

Is it for me?

This is the first in a series of unique four-week courses applying mindfulness training to help manage particular challenges, such as stress, insomnia and modern parenting. We all suffer from stress, anxiety or worry from time to time, but many of us we struggle with these feelings on a ongoing basis and lack the tools to navigate them with relative ease. Through a daily 20-minute commitment to home mindfulness practice (all audio and handouts supplied) you will learn highly effective tools to build emotional resilience, change unhelpful patterns of thinking and increase self-awareness. For those who are completely new to mindfulness as well as those with an established practice.

Why take a Mindfulness for Stress and Worry course with us?

Loosely based on the longer seminal course, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), this course draws on almost two decades of meditation practice and a decade of mindfulness and mindful yoga teaching.

Through the four 90-minute classes and a daily 20-minute commitment to home mindfulness practice you will learn highly effective tools to:

* build emotional resilience
* challenge unhelpful patterns of thinking
* understand how stress manifests and personal stress triggers
* understand how the habit of worry plays out and can dramatically undermine present-moment happiness
* increase self-awareness and self-compassion
* develop a solid home meditation practice

No previous experience is expected or required of participants. All specially prepared home practice audio and handouts will be given.

Mindfulness training is just this - a training, during which we shine a gentle light of attention towards our thoughts, emotions and reactions.

Each session will be a combination of theory and practice. In class and at home, we will be exploring a full range of mindfulness practices, including the Body Scan, Gentle Mindful Movement and Mindfulness of Breathing.

We will also explore a few highly accessible, powerful breath and relaxation practices from the yoga tradition that are scientifically proven to lower stress levels.

Numbers on this course are strictly limited to ten participants encouraging a supportive and relaxed small-group feel.

The teacher will be Lucia Cockcroft, YATM’s co-founder, who brings two decades of practice and a decade of teaching experience. She is fully trained (at postgraduate level, over two years) by Bangor University to deliver Mindfulness Based Approaches. Lucia is also a qualified Yoga Nidra teacher, having trained at the Yoga Nidra Network.
