Rest & Relax workshops
Is it for me?Are you seeking some 'me-time' to pause, relax and restore? Then this lovely class is for you. Our monthly Rest & Relax workshop combines super-gentle Restorative Yoga with breathwork and meditation to help balance your nervous system, sleep better and unwind.
Why take a Rest & Relax workshop with us?
All our R&R teachers - Vikki Stevenson, Sarah Sadler, Davina Warwick and Sophie MacDonald - are welcoming, sensitive and highly trained. They all have a deep interest in this tremendously gentl but powerful form of yoga.
The science behind Restorative Yoga shows the practice is effective to help lower stress levels, improve sleep and boost mood. Our nervous systems are tipped away from our default 'flight or fight' into parasympathetic mode, towards physical and mental relaxation.
The structure of each session will depend on the any theme the individual teacher has chosen and the participants in the class. There may be a little gentle mindful movement to start with.
Restorative Yoga postures are held for far longer than traditional active postures - which is possible because they are so gentle, and work with the connective tissue rather than the muscles. These long-held postures give the mind/body network time to absorb the calming, supportive benefits of each pose.
