Yin/Yang Yoga Workshops in Chelmsford
Is it for me?
In this class we combine a strong dynamic 'yang' practice with a soft, gentle 'yin' practice to strengthen the body whilst releasing tension and relaxing the mind leaving you feeling calm and refreshed. On occasions, such as for our New Year yin/yang workshop, we will look at how both yin and yang can be present in every posture, bringing awareness and curiosity to the presence of both.
Why join a Yin/Yang workshop?
Are you looking for a longer session that delves more deeply into a key aspect of yoga - the application of yin and yang in our practice?
According to Eastern wisdom, everything is made of a balance of opposites - yin and yang. In the West, we live in a non-stop 'yang' culture, without much yin, and our tendency to rush around can lead to us feeling exhausted and on edge.
In these workshops, we'll look at the concept of yin and yang in our minds, energy systems and bodies, enjoying a practice based on both.
In our yoga practice, yang is equated to a dynamic, more challenging practice where there is muscle engagement and opportunity to build strength.
Yin, however, is soft and quiet, represented by meditation, pranayama (breathwork) Restorative Yoga and Yin Yoga.
The flow of a particular workshop will be chosen by the teacher, and is likely to change from month to month. For example, the traditional formal of begining with a yang (energetic) practice and ending with a yin (soft) practice could be turned on its head.
Sometimes, we will look at how both yin and yang - in different incarnations - are present in all postures.
In all cases, expect a playful exploration of yin and yang, and how these two key elements of nature manifest in our minds and bodies.
