Is it for me?

Stress is a natural part of life. However, long term affects of stress can have a significant impact on our mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. Our popular Yoga for Stressful Times courses and workshops have been designed for anyone looking to feel calmer in everyday life. Whilst we will enjoy some gentle physical movement, there will also be plenty of opportunity for informal discussion, and to practice some re-balancing breath-work, meditation and relaxation. We assume no previous knowledge or experience of yoga, the only requirement for these courses is to be able to get on and off the floor without difficulty. It is fine to be taking medication, but the course is not suitable if you are currently experiencing high levels of anxiety.

We are immensely proud to be offering these short courses and individual workshops in the safe, quiet sanctuary of our studio at the top of Moulsham Mill.

Whether structured as course or as an individual workshop, these sessions will explore what happens when we get stressed, offering simple, effective, stress-relieving tools from the yoga tradition to take away.

Long term stress can be hugely depleting, both physically and mentally. In class, we will practice accessible yoga postures that can be integrated into daily routine to restore a sense of calm and enable us to access vital deep rest. 

We will also enjoy gentle breathing techniques; a joint-releasing sequence (designed to ease tension from the whole body) and, once the body has found ease, we'll settle into Yoga Nidra a led relaxation to soak up the opportunity for deep, healing rest.

As always at Yoga at the Mill, we aim to create an atmosphere that is relaxed, non-pressured and suitable for complete yoga beginners along with those who have an established practice.

Previous participants have rated these courses highly, and we have been humbled to hear how the tools they have learnt have often helped them significantly reduce stress levels, allowing them to sleep better and feel better. 

It is fine for participants to be taking medication, but please note these workshops and courses are not suitable if you are currently experiencing high levels of anxiety.

Your teachers

Our Yoga for Stressful Times courses and workshops will be led by sensitive, highly intuitive yoga and meditation teachers who are highly trained in some of the softer yet most powerfully rejuvenating aspects of the yoga tradition, including Yoga Nidra (a powerful form of guided relaxation), mindfulness and Restorative Yoga. 

Our October 13, 2018, workshop will be led by experienced yoga therapist, Daniel Groom.

    All equipment is provided for you, so there's no need to bring your own mat, blanket, bolster or block - we have everything you will need. We recommend wearing comfortable, loose clothes.
