We are proud to offer these therapeutic four-week Yoga for Sleep and Relaxation courses, for anyone who struggles to sleep consistently (according to research, this is around 40% of the UK population). The course is also recommended for those who find it challenging to relax and switch off - a very common contemporary problem, such is the speed of our lifestyle and culture. Based on a powerful blend of super-gentle Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra (deep guided relaxation), Mindfulness and practical tips, we assume no previous experience of yoga or meditation, and aim to equip you with tools to improve your ability to relax, together with your the depth and quality of your sleep - therefore boosting your physical and psychological wellbeing. We include Yoga Nidra audio recordings - an important part of the course.

This course will be helpful if you would like to improve your sleep quality and patterns, as well as lower stress levels and boost general wellbeing.

Beginner Yoga Students relaxingOur four-session Yoga for Sleep and Relaxation courses are highly therapeutic, based on ancient, accessible yoga and meditation practices that have perhaps never been more needed or relevant. 

Living in a culture of non-stop busyness and 24/7 technology, many of us have lost our inherent ability to relax and sleep well, as our central nervous systems remain on constant high alert, anticipating interruptions and demands. 

Over time, this inability to switch off can lead to consistently high levels of background stress and feelings of unease, typically manifesting in poor sleep, anxiety, low mood or/and insomnia. 

Whilst we can't work miracles in four sessions, our intention with these courses is to provide a safe, supportive space in which to pause, step out of life's daily demands, and help begin the process of returning equilibrium to mind and body.

Vikki Stevenson, our sensitive, highly trained teacher, has specialist knowledge of the practices taught in these courses, and is a trained Yoga Nidra (a form of deep guided relaxation) teacher. 

Class structure

Each class will include a powerful blend of Yoga Nidra, Restorative Yoga, theory and some discussion. We will also touch on mindfulness and how it can help us gain some distances from our over-thinking minds, and come more into our senses and bodies.

We will learn a little about the cultural history of sleep and the way in which our modern lives - partly through the use of the internet and technology - so often discourage are capacity to switch off, and our ability to drop into deep, soothing sleep. 

An important element of the course is the home practice Yoga Nidra recordings, intended for use at bed time, to help you sleep soundly.

We assume no previous knowledge of yoga or meditation - the only prerequisite being an open mind and a willingness to follow the supplied weekly recordings.

The next course will run from January 18, 2018, across four consecutive Thursday evenings, with the last session on February 8. Each session will run for 90 minutes, from 7:45pm to 9:15pm.

What shall I bring?

All equipment is provided for you, so there's no need to bring your own mat, blanket, bolster or block - we have everything you will need. :)

We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothes.
