These late morning Saturday sessions at our lovely Mill Studio, Moulsham Mill, are for both complete newcomers to Mindfulness or / and Self-Compassion practice, and those who have an established practice. We will explore how soothing, accessible Mindfulness practices can help us be more fully in the present while fostering care and kindness towards our whole experience.

For some time I have been looking for a way to calm my mind and cope more effectively with the pressures of a busy life. Setting aside time for myself, with the chance to step outside daily life, was so rewarding. I will take so many things away from Lucia’s mindfulness class and it certainly won’t be the last time I will sign up for one of her sessions. Thank you.

“I learned…that sometimes there is just very little in life we can control. But one thing we can always control is how we treat ourselves. And that one thing can change everything.” - Leanna Tankersley

Are you seeking a way to experience calming Mindfulness and Self Compassion practices in the gentle holding space of a small group, under a highly experienced and trained teacher?

Perhaps you are curious about the many benefits of Mindfulness, or are feeling frazzled or stressed, and are looking for a way to offer yourself some self-care in the midst of a busy life?

Perhaps you are struggling with a very active mind (an almost universal human experience) or negative thoughts and are seeking ways to be with your experience with more gentleness and acceptance?

Whatever brings you to know more, we would love you to join us for a restoring, centering and interactive late morning session, taught by Lucia and running regularly on Saturdays from autumn 2025. More below….

Since Jon Kabat-Zinn started teaching Mindfulness to American hospital patients in the early 1970s, its influence has spread around the world, and now has a huge range of applications; notably, in the NHS, corporate wellbeing, and in counselling and prison settings, as well as working with people experiencing burn-out, addiction, depression and anxiety.

Mindfulness can be defined as ‘kindly presence’ and, under sound guidance and with plenty of (little and often) practice, this quality is available to each one of us. In fact, there is no Mindfulness without the vital and transformational underpinning of Self Compassion, yet for most of us we must re-learn both ways of being.

In our 90 minute Mindfulness and Self Compassion sessions in Chelmsford we will experience various accessible practices to nurture presence and kindness, including VERY gentle Mindful Movement, and the lying down compassionate body scan.

Although largely experiential, there will be a chance for some interaction, and we will explore what Mindfulness really means - also challenging a few still-common myths (such as it involves clearing the mind).

Sessions will be suitable for most people who can get on and off the floor (eg a yoga mat) with reasonable ease. Please note: there will be no traditional active yoga. May not be suitable if you are currently experiencing moderate or severe anxiety or depression - please concat us.

The sessions will be led by Lucia. Please see right-hand column for more about Lucia’s background.
